Techniques

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) focuses on changes in perception, responsibility (meaning the ability to respond in a positive way) and developing choices in any given situation. It was developed by John Grinder and Richard Bandler in the 1970s.

NLP uses a variety of different techniques. Below are a few that I have found to be most effective.

There are many techniques I use with my clients. I will list my three favorites.

  1. Parts integration- This is an NLP technique for anyone struggling with self-doubt or having difficulty making a decision. This is referred to as a parts conflict. It is when one part of you wants to do one thing and the other disagrees. It can be exhausting and burdening to your mind and body. Parts integration resolves the conflict whether it is a relationship decision, behavior pattern, career move or any other struggle in your life.
  2. Perceptual positioning- I use this everyday in my own life. It is the ability to sees situations from a different lens. It allows you a moment to pause before reacting and that moment can change an entire experience. This is especially effective for people who are quickly triggered, have a fear of rejection and relationship challenges.
  3. Changing internal representations- This is life changing! We all delete, distort and generalize information every  minute. It is how we process the enormous amount of data that enters our minds through our senses. Most have a habit of creating an internal representation that makes them feel badly. Once you become aware that this is happening you will discover the power you have to process information in way that will create joy and happiness.
